your body is good

May 8th - 11th 2025, Near Leavenworth, WA

Do you see large bodied people online owning their bodies, living their full lives, and wonder how they do it? Are you tired of viewing your body like an enemy? Do you wonder what it means to live in a diet culture? What about exercise, does it have to be torture focused only on burning calories? If you’re ready for a big change, Your Body is Good is right for you.

  • Your Body is Good is a 3 night / 4 day retreat for large bodied non-men (US women’s size 22 or 3x and above). With a focus on changing the narrative around large bodies and empowering yourself—not by changing your body, but by changing your perception. This retreat will cover the following:

    • Defining a diet culture and recognizing the impact in all aspects of life

    • Learning facts that debunk diet culture claims

    • Connecting with ourselves and other participants on the experience of living in a fat body

    • Engaging in pleasurable movement activities

    • Adjusting our beliefs about movement and exercise outside of the diet culture lens

    • Discussing and interrogating food moralizing and the impact of diet culture on eating habits

    • Recognizing and deconstructing where we have internalized fatphobia in a safe and supportive space

    • Plenty of time for rest, rejuvenation, and connecting with self and others

Diet culture has socialized us from the very beginning with unrealistic standards of beauty, food moralizing, and the belief that thinness equals health and value. None of it is true. Treating your body with kindness and care, nourishing it with a variety of foods, moving it in ways that bring you joy, and surrounding yourself with people who appreciate you for who you are is possible. Your body is good, exactly as it is.

  • The lodge includes two buildings right next to each other connected by a covered walkway, the main lodge and the guest house. Each building includes 5 bedrooms. The main lodge includes 2 bathrooms and 2 half bathrooms and the guest house includes 2 half bathrooms and a shower room. Most rooms are single occupancy, however there are limited options for double occupancy, should you want to come with a friend and stay together, you're just open to connecting to someone new on a pajama sleepover level! Room options are as follows:

    Main Lodge

    • Ground Floor Bedroom #1 features 1 King Bed (single occupancy)**

    • Ground Floor Bedroom #2 features 1 Queen Bed (single occupancy)**

    • Second Floor Bedroom #3 features 1 King Bed (single occupancy)

    • Second Floor Bedroom #4 features 1 King Bed (single occupancy)

    • Second Floor Bedroom #5 features 1 King Bed + 1 Twin Bunk Bed (double occupancy)

** These two rooms are the only two without climbing stairs. Priority will be given for attendees who need a stepless entrance to their room and bathroom. Please consider this when registering. Upstairs rooms in the Main Lodge are up 1 flight of steps (between 11 and 13 steps).

    Guest House

Most participants will be housed in the main lodge and the Guest House will primarily be facilitators and staff. There is, however, one double occupancy room that will be used for participants in the Guest House.

    • Second Floor Bedroom #5 features 1 Queen Bed and 1 Twin Bunkbed (double occupancy)

All rooms in the Guest House are up 1.5 flights of steps (about 13 steps).

All meals will be prepared by Chef Amy Cherry. Dietary needs will be accommodated as long as they are submitted with registration in time for grocery purchase. Meals will be enjoyed in the main lodge dining room or you can choose to enjoy them outside at one of the picnic tables. Because our bodies need fuel to not only move our bodies but move our minds, snacks will be available throughout the weekend for nourishment between meals.

We will have access to a private pool and hot tub for relaxing before bed, taking a morning swim to wake up, or just to socialize or process retreat content.

  • Creating a safe and comfortable vessel to explore and share is essential to this work. Therefore, all participants and facilitators will be non-men, the majority of whom live in large bodies. We will be the only group on property during the retreat. There will be one male on the property who is an assistant to the chef and will not be present at any retreat activities but may be seen in passing.
